CURRENT OCCUPATION: Assistant wizarding naturalist CLASS: Working class Family/Relationships PARENTS: MOTHER: Aurowena Lovegood (deceased)SIBLINGS: None EXTENDED FAMILY: None FRIENDS: Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom SEXUALITY: She really has no idea still. SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None CHILDREN: None Politics LOYALTY/ALLIANCE: Order/Ministry ROLE IN THE WAR: Luna was one of Dumbledore's Army. She attempted to steal Godric Gryffindor's Sword from Snape's office with Neville and Ginny, and was sent to the Forbidden Forest. They reestablished Dumbledore's Army, and then tried to regain control of their school. Death Eaters captured Luna during Christmas that year because her father had been printing stories supporting Harry in the Quibbler. She was taken to Malfoy Manor, along with Ollivander. Ultimately she was rescued, and later on went to take part in the Battle of Hogwarts. She helped Harry find the lost Ravenclaw Diadem, and she stunned Alecto Carrow. POLITICAL VIEWS: Luna loves everyone, or at least she appreciates them. Whether they're pureblood or muggleborn, she doesn't care. She doesn't mind vampires or werewolves, goblins or any other kind of creatures. She just wants everyone to get along. She supports Harry in all things, and mostly the Ministry. She wants people to just get along and not fight anymore. She's definitely a Liberal. Appearance OVERVIEW: Luna has long, pale blond hair that is scraggly but has been tamed a bit over the years. She has gray eyes that border on silvery and still more than a bit bug eyed. She still dresses completely ridiculously, with pale skin and slender body type. Mostly seen without shoes, looking a bit lost or not paying attention. She has a fondness for clothes that she's made by hand. Though she likes to wear both trousers and dresses, none of it ever matches. She carries her wand behind her ear, and makes jewelry out of things you would find around the house. Not only does her expression seem lost, but she just looks out of place all together. Either that or she always appears deep in thought. Her voice is slightly high pitched, and like the rest of her sounds like she's far away, or dreaming.. Personality WAND: 14", elm wood, unicorn hair, flexible. BOGGART: Complete darkness PATRONUS: Hare. DETAILED PERSONALITY: To say that Luna is weird is putting it mildly but most of her friends tend to overlook her eccentric habits. She gets most of them from her father, and usually her rule is that if she likes it, she'll wear it, research it, keep it as a pet, write about it. She doesn't care about what other people think about her and her habits. If she likes a skirt and it doesn't go with the top that she likes, she'll wear it anyway. Everything she wears and likes seems to not go together. Matching isn't really high up on her priority list, and of course it doesn't help that people or in some cases, creatures keep stealing bits and pieces of her clothes, like her shoes. Some people think that it's because she's not paying much attention when she's putting on clothes and things, but that's only part of it. To her, she just wants to wear the stuff that she likes, and conventional means, and everyone else's standards don't apply to her. Her values and belief system is very strong to her. She believes that one day she'll see her mother again, and misses her very much but believes she's gone onto a better place. She knows when she's doing the right thing and ignores it when other people make fun of her and holds her head high and doesn't allow herself to be bullied but she doesn't go after others or make them feel bad. People think she doesn't pay attention much but she pays more attention then most other people. Luna loves her father, but she doesn't always understand or agree with his decisions. It took her a while to talk to him again after he had turned in Harry and the others. She understands what he did, but to her, she would have sacrificed herself for the greater good. In that way, she's pretty brave, and rarely comes across as scared. It isn't that she isn't scared, far from it. She just usually comes across as not paying attention instead. Her biggest fondness is for animals, especially new creatures which she wants to discover. Her father once thought that she should teach Care of Magical Creatures. But she has also thought about taking over the Quibbler from her father when he retires as well. Above all she's not afraid to fight for what's right, and had no qualms of being in Dumbledore's Army and participating in several battles in the fall of Voldemort's second war. It doesn't seem like she gets mad at all, and doesn't let anything get to her. Everything kind of rolls off her, until at least she's alone. Sometimes it does get to her, but she hasn't ever told anyone. She keeps a lot to herself, and while she's not afraid to talk to people, the fact that people make fun of her deep down upsets her quite a bit. Luna will pretty much never blend in, she'll always stand out in a crowd, even when she's trying her very hardest to do just that. She's personable for the most part, as long as the people aren't making fun of her or calling her Loony. Other than that, she tends to ignore the people that give her a hard time. History CHILDHOOD: Xenophilius Lovegood was married to a wonderful, wise witch named Aurowena. They were madly in love, even if Aurowena was muggle born. They met at Hogwarts, and dated pretty much from their fourth year onward. She was rather fond of Xeno's little eccentricities. He liked to write, and was pretty good at it. Though the things he liked to write about weren't exactly the kinds of things that the Daily Prophet liked to write about. In fact, for the most part they thought he was a nutjob. The two were married just after leaving Hogwarts, and not but a couple of years after that did Aurowena realized that she was pregnant. Nine months later, Luna Lovegood was born, named after the thing that Aurowena loved the most, the moon. Even as Luna was a baby, Aurowena took Luna to gaze up at the moon. The two raised Luna to be interested in different things, and kept her fairly entertained as an infant. The thing was that her mother really liked to experiment with potions and charms, and come up with new ones. Meanwhile her father adored not just writing, but starting a garden, and knowing as much as he could about plants and animals. When Luna was nine though her mother was watching her, doing one of her experiments and it backfired, killing her with Luna watching. Maybe it traumatized her more than she let on, not just that her mother died when she was so young bit witnessing it. Of course their family beliefs stated that her mother was always watching over her, loving her and would be there waiting for her some day. She didn't really understand what had happened to her mother, not until she was older, but the concept of an after-life. Her parents had always let her dress herself, and never dictated what she was supposed to wear, and often she would come out wearing both a skirt and pants. They encouraged her to be different, and after Aurowena died, Xeno tried to further those notions of independence, but he was a strong influence on her. HOGWARTS. Finding out she was a witch just like her parents meant that she was allowed to go to Hogwarts, starting in 1992, and eventually was sorted into Ravenclaw. The day she met Ginny Weasley was on her way to Hogwarts to start her first second year. Though the other girl was in Gryffindor, Luna was very personable and was reading the Quibbler (the newspaper that her father had decided to start writing because no one on the Daily Prophet would take him seriously). Since it seemed that Ginny didn't mind the Quibbler, she shared her copy and the two became rather fast friends. Ginny was one of the few people who didn't call her Loony or make fun of her behind her back, which was as close to a friend as she had ever had. Most of the kids in school called her names and then stole her shoes, but Luna took it all in stride. Her father always told her that those sorts of kids would get her come-uppance and that she was a lot more wise than they were. In 1995, she was on board the Hogwarts Express yet again when the door opened and in came Ginny, Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. She was reading another copy of the Quibbler, though upside down to do one of the puzzles on the back. They all looked at her like she was odd, except for Ginny who stood up for her when the others questioned sharing a compartment with her. Upon getting off the train, she noticed that Harry Potter was acting strangely. It turned out that he could see Thestrals, something she could see as well, considering that she had witnessed her mother's death, she could see the animals where others couldn't. Though she knew that he had witnessed something profound, she was quiet because it was obvious that he didn't quite trust her, but let him know that he wasn't insane and that they could both see the Thestrals because they had witnessed someone die. Later on that year as Delores Umbridge took over the school, Luna decided to join up with the others in Dumbledore's Army against her and the Inquisitorial Squad. She believed in Harry, and knew that something bad was coming. Her father much believed the same sorts of things and put his support behind Harry, much as Luna did. When Harry knew that he had to go to the Department of Mysteries to find the prophecy about him, at the Ministry, Luna said that she would go. She really wanted to be brave and take a stand for what was right, because she believed in Harry, not just as the guy he was supposed to be, but as his friend. Of course they were lured there by Voldemort, and then attacked by Death Eaters. Using all of the things that she had learned, she fought against them and managed to survive. It had shaken her up quite badly afterward, something she didn't tell anyone else. Sure, she had put on a brave face, but after that she knew that things could never be the same. Though obviously she hadn't known Sirius Black all that well, when he died, she knew that it had crushed Harry, and losing someone that you cared about was something she was very familiar with. Eventually she told Harry that like him, she had seen her mother killed in front of her (even though he was a baby at the time), and that she was confident that eventually she would see her mother again, and that they would be together eventually, and that she had moved onto a better place, just like she was sure that he would get to see Sirius and his parents one day. That year when she came home from school, she painted a mural of her friends on her ceiling. That summer, she went with her father to Sweden to see if they could find Crumple-Horned Snorkack's, which are rare to the point where no one believes that they exist, except for her and her father of course. In her fifth year, she was much better friends with Harry, Ginny and even Ron and Hermione. They were such good friends that Harry decided to let the Quibbler have an interview with him. Later in the year around Christmas time, she became closer to Hermione, comforting her when Ron was more cruel to her than usual. Harry asked her to go with him to Slughorn's Christmas party, which she happily accepted if only because it gave her an excuse to wear a dress that she had made from scratch. She rather liked the party, and talked to a lot of different people, even finding one of the vampire guests rather intriguing. Though most people made fun of her, she pretty much ignored them and went on entertaining the others with jokes and amusing tales. Later on, she became the Quidditch commentator, mostly because she made people laugh doing it. By the time the year came to a close, she helped defend the school against more Death Eaters at the Battle of the Astronomy Tower after Dumbledore was killed. She came through unscathed, though she was quite insistent on helping Neville when he injured himself. Later on she managed to attend Bill and Fleur's wedding, bringing her father along with her. Most of her time was spent dancing by herself or with her father. The trio disappeared sometime after, and the rest were left to help make sure that the Death Eaters didn't completely destroy the school. She carried on with school as usual, trying to keep up with her studies though she worried about the others and wished that she could be out there, though she really had no idea what the trio were up to. Since they needed the Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem, Luna helped Harry into the Ravenclaw's common room where they looked for the diadem, she even managed to stun Alecto Carrow. She was there for the final Battle of Hogwarts, and fought bravely besides her friends. Somehow she survived. After the war was over, and Voldemort defeated, she went back home to Ottery St. Catchpole. POST-HOGWARTS. After graduation, she decided to help her father with the Quibbler, though she wasn't as good for a writer as he was. Instead she decided to become a naturalist and spend most of her time looking for new species, and finding out more about the ones that were in existence. She hasn't been doing it for very long, but she'll go anywhere to find what she's looking for. Mostly she has spent her time abroad, in different countries and studying animals. For about six months, she even went to a dragon sanctuary and studied them for a little while before moving on. She likes dragons, but she's not quite sure that she wants to be a dragonologist. Eventually she got word from her father that he was sick, and so she came home to take care of him. Luna has still never been on a date, or been kissed in any way. She says she doesn't mind it all that much, but she's beginning to wonder if there isn't something wrong with her really. Now that she's home for a while, she's taken to being a veterinarian of sorts. Mostly if she finds sick animals in the wild, she tries to help them as best as she can. Though she wants to get back to her studies, she won't leave her father alone. Of course Luna has kept in touch with all of her other friends, and spends as much time with them as she possibly can. As far as the Amesoeur Project is concerned, she's thinking about taking it. Her father really wants her to, but she's not quite sure it's worth it. Misc. COMMON KNOWLEDGE: She loves to bake. Mostly dessert to be honest, especially pudding. Pudding is her favorite thing in the whole world. Luna owns an owl, a krup, some fish, and a lot of other animals that she mostly keeps at home. She's going to keep collecting them though. All of her dogs are named after the Three Musketeers. Luna has never had a boyfriend, never been kissed and she's not quite sure how she feels about the opposite sex. Not that it matters, since she's too weird for anyone to be interested in her like that. SECRETS: Though she says she doesn't remember much of her mother dying, in fact she remembers every little part of it. And it scares her to death. Once her father asked her if he got too sick, would she help him move on. She told him no she wouldn't, but if he was in a lot of pain, she probably would. She feels like she's never going to get to leave wizarding London ever again. PARTICIPATION: Yes SOUL MATE ATTRIBUTES: She would appreciate someone who doesn't find her weird. Someone who likes animals or plants, and doesn't mind having a lot of them. Someone who is nice, who has the same kind of values as she does. Maybe someone who pulls her out of her shell a bit. Oh and someone who appreciates her pudding, or at least at the very least likes sweets. She's so sweet and nice though, that honestly anyone will do. Anyone. PLOT IDEAS: I think it would be nice if Luna was torn between finding someone that was her Soul Mate, and then wanting to leave and be outdoors and looking for animals. She'd be quite torn between the two things, especially if she found someone who didn't want to leave the country. There's plot with her dad being sick too, and in general, trying to find her place in the world. Contact Information NAME: Jewels.
